End Of Life Doula

For over 30 years I worked as a Division 2 Nurse in a range of settings and found my various roles to be very rewarding, but there was a gap so l left nursing looking for something new. When my father was ill and made the decision to come home for his final days, I became much more aware of the lack of options for the dying and their families. We were lucky that the health care facility fully supported his decision and worked quickly to make it happen and that as a family we were able to give Dad one last gift. I will never forget Dad’s face when he arrived home via ambulance, he was so happy and thankful, he just wanted to be home, he passed nine days later, peacefully to the sounds of the household.

My hope is to offer the dying and their family’s guidance, assistance and support through this difficult time. Home death is not an option for everyone for a variety of reasons but is important to have options and find what is the most appropriate care system for the dying and their family.

I can offer a range of services from a one-off session to discuss your needs, offering options or to talk about the dying process and the stages of grief the dying and their loved ones can go through. I am also able to work with you throughout the entire process as well as offering follow-up after the passing of a loved one.

I offer the use of essential oils, burning candles, reading favourite books, poems, stories out loud, I can simply sit quietly or listen to whatever you wish to talk about. If there are any rituals, you would like incorporated l can work with you to create something special. It is an honour and a privilege to work with the dying and their loved ones and all is held in the utmost of confidentiality.

If you feel I may be of assistance, please contact me and we can discuss your needs and the fee structure.
